Design Engineer (Mechanical)
£35,000 to £45,000 DOE + Pension + Holiday + Flexitime
Design Engineer required for an innovative company who are currently designing, researching, and developing a range of new products. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer looking for a new, exciting role within a fast growing research and development company.
To apply for this role, you will hold a Degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, or similar relevant discipline and will be experienced using SolidWorks (or similar equivalent) for 3D modelling and be confident with 2D drawing. You will have a sound knowledge of geometric tolerancing and BOM generation. Experience with electric motor design would be advantageous for this role, as would FEA experience, however this is not essential.
The role itself is working within a growing team consisting of engineers and physicists. You will be developing advanced motor technologies and energy storage materials and systems. You will be responsible for both concept and re-modification, you will be drafting and designing using 3D CAD and SolidWorks. In addition, you will also design and produce 2D drawings of components and assemblies for manufacture.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying and sourcing components, presenting their findings and generating BOM’s. When designing products you will be responsible for geometric tolerance and finite element analysis, you will assemble prototypes and liaise with key suppliers. You will work with metals and plastics, machined and 3D printed parts. Another aspect of the role will be writing and implementing test and validation procedures.
